We decided to invite the missionaries over for Thanksgiving. Now cooking for anyone stresses me out way more than it should, so doing Thanksgiving (which is supposed to be the biggest and best meal of the year, right?) freaked me right out. But it all worked out...mostly.
Japan doesn't seem to believe in turkey, so we opted for chicken instead. We also ended up doing mashed potatoes (you just gotta have those!), corn, rolls, pie, nuts, salad, and stuffing. Now you are probably just dying with curiosity as to what didn't quite work. Basically, the chicken and stuffing turned out just "so-so." As in "Soooo, do I have to eat this?" Ha! Our "made-by-scratch" stuffing was a bit gooey, and they chicken wasn't amazing either. But the potatoes and everything else were delectable (snazzy word usage for the day.) We also took turns saying what we were grateful for (as I'm sure most families do during this particular holiday.)
Anyway, I was pretty much just super proud of myself that it all worked out. Success (okay, mostly a success. Boo-ya).
We are lame-sauce and didn't get a picture, so hopefully the missionaries will be so kind as to send us one that they took. So this li'l turkey will have to do. So happy we could eat chicken and save a turkey's life this Thanksgiving.
